| This morning, just before 8 a.m., the Lower Providence Fire Department was dispatched to a reported microwave fire in the 3000 block of Cardin Place, located in the Eagleville section of the township. Chief 53 arrived to find smoke coming from the front door, and the resident reported that the fire had spread from the microwave into the kitchen. Chief 53 assumed command and upgraded the incident to a working fire, prompting a request for mutual aid from Jefferson, Norristown, Norriton, Worcester, Collegeville, and Trappe fire departments.
Engine 53 arrived first, secured a reliable water supply, and quickly entered the home to prevent the fire from spreading further. Teams from Tower 53, Squad 46, Squad 27, Squad 61, and Ladder 83 assisted with overhaul and ventilation. Engine 34 and Ladder 77 were redirected to Station 53A to provide coverage for the township until crews were released from the scene.
No injuries were reported among civilians or fire department personnel. The Red Cross was called to help homeowners who were displaced, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Lower Providence Fire Marshal’s office.
