On October 7 at approximately 8:08 AM, the Upper Providence Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services was dispatched to a tractor-trailer fire at mile marker 184.1 on westbound Route 422. Upon arrival, crews found a tractor-trailer with smoke coming from the trailer. It was determined that the trailer contained mixed-use electronic materials. At 08:42 hours Station 34 Fire Police were dispatched to close the WB on Ramps from Route 29. FP34-1 in Utility 34-1 responded to the above location and was assisted by FP51-1 with Traffic 51 as well as Traffic 77 with FP77-3 and Utility 53 with 2 Fire Police. FP77-1 responded to the Town Center to the Tanker Fill site to assist with traffic control around the fill site by Raymore & Flanigan. When the Shelter in Place and evacuation for part of the town center occurred, until HAZ-MAT crew could determine the toxicity of the smoke from the fire. Fire Police from Station 69, 58, 46, 83, were dispatched to assist with this task. Westbound Route 422 traffic has been diverted onto southbound Route 29. The entrance to 422 Westbound at Rt 29 is also currently closed. While operating at this incident WB a second incident came in at 09:40 hours for an MVA with injuries EB 422 @ MM186.2 SD68-1, E34; U34-1 responded to this incident. Once this scene was cleared in about 30 minutes, all units were made available. U34-1 returned to the original incident WB.
