As the storms swept through the Collegeville area on June 19, Collegeville Volunteers were called into service for trees down on vehicles on Stine Drive and on School Street for a tree down with wires down and two utility poles snapped off. Several Fire Police incidents, one in Upper Providence Twp., on Arcola Road, School Street in the Collegeville Borough and then an assist to Lower Providence Fire Police for a tree down in the roadway on Germantown Pike between Cross-Keys and Evansburg Roads. Then on Friday June 20th at 04:00 hours two loud explosions were heard and power along E. Main Street from 4th to 8th Avenues went out. PD and FP deployed generators to operate the traffic lights at 5th and E. Main Street and 6th Avenue and E. Main Street. Power in this area was off for approximately four hours. 8th Avenue remains closed between Locust Street and Chestnut Street and School Street remains closed between 10th Avenue and 8th Avenue. These roads will be closed until Sunday, June 22nd.
