| At 1:36 p.m., Station 34 and mutual aid companies were dispatched to New Hall on the Ursinus College campus. Shortly after Assistant 34 began responding, county emergency dispatch reported alarms sounding on multiple floors and rooms with smoke detected in the building. Assistant 34 requested additional units, including Squad 68 and Tower 86, to be added to the response. Chief 53 arrived on scene first, establishing New Hall Command until Assistant 34 assumed command upon arrival. Engine 34 responded to the "A" side of the building, with the crew investigating the source of the smoke. Squad 34 also responded to the "A" side, connecting to a hydrant and establishing a water supply, though the supply was never activated. Ladder 77 arrived on the "B" side of the building and began operations. Tower 53 positioned on the "A" side and went to work on the building's roof, while Tower 86 responded to the "C" side. Additional apparatus staged in a parking lot on the "D" side of the building. The smoke was eventually traced to an HVAC unit. After the situation was resolved, New Hall was turned back over to Ursinus College Facilities. All responding units were released and made available by Command. |
