Passing of Life Member Richard P. DeWane

Richard P. DeWane, Sr., 96, husband of the late Dorothy J. (Pfleger) Scheffey DeWane, Brightview Senior Living, E. Norriton, PA, died Friday, October 13, 2023, at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital, E. Norriton. He was a longtime Limerick, PA resident.

Rich was born on February 21, 1927, in Collegeville, PA, to the late Francis D. and Susan Rose (Stierly) DeWane. He graduated from Collegeville - Trappe High School in 1945 and immediately entered the US Army where he completed his service as a Staff Sergeant.

Before retiring Rich sold farm equipment and machinery for Vicon Corp. He also drove school bus and was a groundskeeper for Methacton School District.

Rich is survived by his daughters, Michelle, wife of John Perkins, Phoenix, AZ, and Danna, wife of Daniel Sharadin, Plymouth Meeting, PA; his step-children, Donna, husband of Ernest Talone, W. Norriton, PA, Douglas "Butch," husband of Rachel (Linderman) Scheffey, Upper Providence. PA, and Constance Reinstein, Boyertown, PA; seven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren; and his brother, J. Glenn, husband of Mary Ellen (Oehrle) DeWane, Collegeville. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard P. "Ricky" DeWane, Jr.; and his brothers, F. Willis DeWane, and Donald R., Sr., husband of Margaret L. "Peg" (Curtis) DeWane, Audubon, PA.

Rich's funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 21st, in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum Chapel, Limerick Garden Of Memories, 44 E. Arcadia Dr., Limerick, PA 19468, with Edward W. DeWane, his nephew, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 to 10:45 AM, Saturday, in the chapel.
