13:53 hours Station 34 along with mutual aid Companies responded to a reported Dwelling fire in the 400 block of Stratford Avenue, in the Borough. MCEDS advised Battalion 34 that the residents reported the basement full of smoke and though they had a fire in the wall. Battalion 34 arrived on scene and reported smoke in the house and established Command. Engine 34 with a crew of 6 arrived and established a water supply from a nearby hydrant. Two handlines were stretched, one to the back of the house and the second to the garage area. It was determined that the source of the smoke was from a gas operated fireplace. Ladder 68-2 and Tower 53 laddered the house. Squad 34 arrived and hooked to the hydrant to supplement pressure and flow if needed. Engine 66 arrived, and its crew assisted 34's crew with search and to check for extension. Fire was put under control in 15 minutes. Command released Tower 53 and Squad 34.
