Historic Flooding September 1 & 2, 2021 on Perkiomen Creek @ 26.3'

On September 1st & 2nd, the Perkiomen Creek once again flooded and was predicted to rise to17.8', but went to a new Historic Level at 26.3" The Company responded to numerous Water Rescues with Marine 34 and Marine 34-1. Along with responding to the water rescues, the company was also closing down roads throughout Collegeville Borough. 2nd Avenue was flooded across had to be closed from E Main Street to Park Avenue. Fire Police responded and closed the roadway. The roadway remained closed for over 4 hours until the waters subsided. During the 2nd Avenue closure, the Perkiomen Creek then started to Flood across E Main Street and the Perkiomen Creek Bridge had to be closed off at 2nd Avenue in Collegeville and over in Lower Providence Township at Ridge and Germantown Pikes. As the Perkiomen continued to rise, 1st Avenue (Route 29) north had to be closed at E Main Street and 9th Avenue in the Borough and the closure continued into Perkiomen Township to Iron Bridge Drive. Once 2nd Avenue (Route 29) south was reopened all traffic was directed south on 29 to Route 422 as a detour route. As the situation continued to get worse, Route 29 flooded across at Hopwood Road in Upper Providence Township. Traffic was then re-routed west on Ridge Pike to Township Line Road in Upper Providence/Limerick Township line south to Route 422, as this was the only way at this time to get across the Perkiomen Creek. All other roadways to 422 were flooded across at this time.

Along with the water recues on 9/1 & 2, on 9/2 the Company responded at 08:39 to an MVA w/ injuries at W Main Street and 7th Avenue in Trappe Borough, 13:16 EMS assist at 4000 Ridge Pike Lower Providence Township. 15:17 hour a building fire at 971 Port Providence Road, Upper Providence Township. 15:36 hours 115 2nd Avenue, Fire Alarm Collegeville Borough
