At 12:03 hours on 6/3 Station 34 was dispatched to assist Station 77 with a tree down along with wires in the 100 block of W 7th Avenue in Trappe. Squad 34 responded to this incident and was then diverted to Center Avenue and W Main Street for a tree and wires down. The area at Center Avenue was secured by 77 Fire Police and Squad 34 went available. While responding FP34-1 noticed trees and wires down on 6th Avenue in Collegeville Borough and diverted to this. FP34-1 contacted police Chief Bucher by phone informing him of the situation and to have PD respond out to assist in closing down 6th Avenue along with Chestnut Street which also had a tree down across the roadway. Chief Bucher then requested fire police to assist with all traffic lights out in the Borough. Chief Bucher along with Borough Manager Geoff Thompson started placing generators at the traffic lights and was then joined by FP34-1. Once all generator were placed and all traffic lights were working everyone returned to the Borough Hall to discuss having PD check on Generators every 4 hours to fill them with fuel. Power came back on in part of the Borough around 7 pm and some lights were put back on Normal power and generators were removed. As of 6 am on Thursday 6/4 part of the Borough is still with out power.
Updates to come.
