Monday Night's Training

October 29, 2019

Tonight’s training was on a not so often used tool in our arsenal: airbags. With our airbag system we are able to lift objects where using our Res-q-jacks or other lifting mechanisms may not be feasible or safe. With emphasis always on safety, crews also practiced proper cribbing techniques to provide a sturdy platform to both rest the object on as well as a “safety net” if the bags were to rapidly deflate. Thank you to our senior Firefighters for sharing your knowledge to our younger generation tonight. For those that aren’t aware FF Gary L. Sassaman and FF Bruce “Rookie” Craver have been in the rescue business for a very long time and continue to be instrumental in many aspects of our rescue trainings.
Thank you to the Collegeville Borough Police Department for the use of their decommissioned car to act as our “victim” tonight.

What better way to train then to have a call during fire school...
