Dwelling Fire Chestnut Street - Collegeville Borough

.At approximately 10:56 hours, Collegeville Fire Company was alerted to a possible dwelling fire at a residence on the 300 Block of Chestnut Street. The initial dispatch also alerted Trappe Fire Company No. 1, Perkiomen Township Fire Company and Lower Providence Fire Department. Collegeville Borough Police Department arrived on location and confirmed smoke from the attic area. Assistant 34 (Penuel) advised MCEDS to upgrade the incident to a working fire dispatch. This upgrade added Township of Upper Providence Department of Fire & Emergency Services and Skippack Fire Company. Chief 34 arrived shortly after and assumed command. Squad 34 with 5 members went in service with an 1 3/4” attack line for a basement fire extending to the first floor. Chief 34 requested two addition engines with manpower which added Royersford Fire Department and Limerick Fire Department. Crews were able to rescue a few cats and a dog. The incident is currently being investigated to determine a cause.
